Obituary

Deacon Johnny Will Hunt was born May 7, 1931, in Albany, Georgia,  He was the eldest child in the union of the late Deacon Will Hunt and  Leola Draine.

Growing up in Tampa, Florida, he was educated in the Hillsboro County Public School District.  Throughout school, he was a very inquisitive young man who garnered much from his educational experiences.

Believing strongly in loyalty and commitment to his country, he enlisted in the United States Army; served with distinction; and was the recipient of numerous commendations.   The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him—he was a soldier to the core.  At the close of his tours of duty, he was honorably discharged and returned to civilian life.

From a very early age, Deacon Hunt was nurtured in the Word of God.  He was a strong and faith-filled man who dearly loved the Lord and committed himself unfaltering in Christian stewardship at New Provisor Missionary Baptist Church.  Through the years, he  was steadfast in his devotion and calling as a Deacon, Sunday School and Bible Study teacher.  His encouraging words and the examples that he set served as blessings for many people.  He was a God-fearing man, a praying man, and a man of honor and respect.

Deacon Hunt was gifted in many ways and enjoyed a very diverse and rewarding career.  His employment included heating and air conditioning, woodworking, and automotive mechanics.  He was proud of his talents and expertise, and worked hard to ensure that he provided superior service.  Deacon Hunt  was a man full of love and the relationships that he forged through the years nourished his soul.  He will be remembered for his "gifted" hands,  his love for family and friends, and his generosity and tireless support of others.

On November 3, 2021, Deacon Hunt was called home to be with the Lord.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.

He leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by his only daughter, Raquel Bozman of Grand Rapids, MI; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three brothers, Willie (Linda) Hunt, Leroy Hunt, and Johnny Lamar Hunt all of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
