IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny
Mcfarland
January 16, 1938 – April 29, 2024
Johnny McFarland, Sr. was born in Leesburg, Georgia on January 16,1938; to the late Billy McFarland and Ella Mae Washington.
He received his formal education in the Lee County School System. Throughout school, he was a very bright and inquisitive young man
who garnered much from his educational experiences.
At a very early age, Johnny began his steadfast journey with the Lord. He was a devoted member of Palmyra Missionary Baptist Church who
committed himself unfaltering in Christian stewardship. You could not know him without being inspired by his unparalleled service and devotion as a Deacon. His encouraging words and the examples that he set through the years served as blessings for many people.
Deacon McFarland was united in marriage to his best friend and lifelong mate, Bernice Fields , who preceded him in death. They shared a truly extraordinary love that overflowed with joy, laughter, and true devotion to each other. He was an incredible husband and father who was full of wisdom, compassion, strength, love, and humor. Family was paramount in his life and he took great care in providing for them.
A man of many skills, talents, and unquestionable work ethic, Deacon McFarland's professional career began early in life in the construction
industry with S. J. Curry. In later years, he was employed by Alcon Associates where he mastered the skill of crane operating as he advanced through the ranks. No matter what challenges faced him, he remained positive, hard-working, upbeat, and pursued opportunities with vigor and determination for 53 years. Upon retirement, he was recognized as a loyal, dedicated employee with an outstanding work record; and a great role model and mentor for fellow workers. He impacted the lives of everyone around him and will be deeply missed.
On April 29, 2024, at the hallowed age of 86, Almighty God called his faithful servant home. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he
was preceded in death by five children, Gregory McFarland, Dennis McFarland, Billy McFarland, Christine McFarland, and Johnny Graham; his grandson, Jahmaal St. Paul; siblings, Howard McFarland, Sammie Jenkins, Ernest Jenkins, and Vernetta McFarland.
