IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnny Clifford
Seay, Sr.
March 8, 1957 – August 15, 2021
Johnny Clifford Seay, Sr., son of the late Fredrick Douglas Bray and Ozzie Rutland Seay, was born in Albany, Georgia on March 8, 1957.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1975. Throughout school, he was a very bright and inquisitive young man who garnered much from his educational experiences.
Ready to serve his country after high school, Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy where he served with distinction. During his military service, he was assigned to posts in Washington DC and other installations throughout the United States and abroad. While advancing through the ranks, he received numerous awards and commendations for his bravery and valor. Johnny was a soldier to the core and the discipline he learned in the Navy never left him.
At the close of his 20-year career, he received an honorable discharge and, thereafter, settled in Jacksonville, Florida.
Growing up in a loving family in which the Lord was reverenced and worshipped, Johnny accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age.
He united with the Greater New Morning Star Holiness Church under the guiding hand of his grandfather, Elder Nathan Starling and served faithfully for numerous years. Upon settling in Florida after his military service, he joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor H. B. Charles, Jr. His love God was displayed by his love for his people and all mankind.
Johnny's employment history began long before his military enlistment. As a youth, he worked at Midget's Grocery Store where he developed valuable life skills and work ethics that spilled over into adulthood. After retiring from the military, he joined the ranks of employees with the Jacksonville Transit Authority. He was a loyal, dedicated employee; took great pride in his work and a job well done; and rendered 23 years of exceptional service.
Often described as straight-forward, unpretentious, and strong-willed, Johnny was also known as a kind, gentle man whose heart was filled with love, care, and compassion for those that he knew and encountered. He was full of life, laughter, and loads of fun; and he truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In his leisure time, he enjoyed morning walks, dominos, fishing, grilling, basketball, corn hole, and dancing. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.
On August 15, 2021, Johnny transitioned from this earthly life at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronnie Seay whom was his twin, Otis Seay, Sr. and Minister Janice Bray-Browner.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his loving friend and companion, LaSanda English; his children, Gabriel S. (Elliott) Martin, Roslyn Means (Chuck Holsey), Johnise (Qaadir) Sainteliot, Johnny C. Seay, Jr. (Latiffany Watts), and Lisa A. Seay; bonus children reared as his own, Erica (Chris) Burton, Ernestine (Charlie) Beecham, and Joyce J.
