Joseph Barber, Jr. was born on June 21, 1946, in Albany, Georgia. He was the son of the late Joseph Barber, Sr. and Delzenia Jinks Barber.
He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe High School and graduated in the class of 1963.
At an early age, he heeded the call of Christ and united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. E. J. Grant.
Joseph was a military enthusiast who served his country with distinction in the United States Army and the National Guard . The discipline and patriotism he learned during is military career never left him, as family and friends can attest.
"Joe Bell" as he was affectionately called, was a very outgoing person who garnered much from his life experiences. His love for family and friends was infinite and he cherished each moment spent with them. The strong bonds of friendship that he developed through the years will forever be remembered.
Life's earthly journey ended when Joe Bell transitioned on August 9, 2017, at the Ft. Gaines Nursing Home in Ft. Gaines, GA.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish fond memories a loving and devoted sister, Gwendolyn Uyvonne Barber; special relatives, Eula Harvey, Wendy Jordan, Pastor Ethel Anderson Williams, Elizabeth Holsey, and Mary Harris; special friends, Carolyn Bogan, Gaylord Blackmon, Brenda Williams, Robert Plummer, Sheryl Plummer, Arthur Fields, Rhonda Sisroe, Jennye Green, Henrietta Benson, Rushie Bell Bridges, Charles Perry, Jimmy Bradford, Pastor Gussie Whitlow, Mattie Williams Huff, Geneva Mims, Eva Spurling, Otis Griffin, and Carol Jenkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
