Joseph Dorsey was born in Greensboro, Georgia on September 4, 1947.  He was the oldest child of Columbus Dorsey and the late Ruby Dorsey.

He received his formal education in the  Greene County School  System and was active in various student activities and events.

Joseph was an extremely conscientious individual who devoted much of his time and energy to providing for his family.  For more than 20 years, he worked untiringly in maintenance with the Patel family.  He was the "go-to guy" who everyone relied upon to get the job done and he always did it with pride.  Over the years, he became more than just a worker—many saw him as a friend.

Family and friends were among Joseph's greatest treasures and he looked forward to spending time with them.  He found joy in every circumstance and his one-of-a-kind personality drew people to him.  Fondly known as "Joe Boy" by many,  Joseph was a very outgoing person who experienced life with open arms and was oftentimes the life of the crowd.  He was a self-proclaimed cook, singer, and dancer whose heart and home were eagerly opened to family, friends, and even strangers. He delighted in helping others—never asking anything in return. In his leisure, he enjoyed karaoke, bingo, playing cards, and fishing.

On December 30, 2021, Joe's transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of over 35 years, Edwina Dorsey of Albany, GA; his children, Kenyon Loud, Sr., Travis Loud, Sr., Joseph Dorsey, Sr., Jerell Dorsey, Sr., Owena Dorsey, Palentha Dorsey (Lacey), Kenyetta Dorsey, Amelia Dorsey, Jelisa (Robert) Clay, and Talithia Dorsey all of Albany, GA; four brothers, George Dorsey, Cleveland Dorsey, Columbus Dorsey, and Henry Dorsey; 31 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
