Joseph Mallory was born in Leary, Georgia on October 29, 1947.  He was the son of the late Dee and Fannie Hardwick Mallory.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County Public School System, including Monroe High School.  During the early years of his life, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Beulah Baptist Church.

Joseph was a very conscientious individual who believed strongly in working hard for what you want, being willing to do the right thing, and making sure that no task was left undone.  He worked untiringly for innumerable years at Klein Printing Company until becoming disabled.

Joe, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a soft-spoken, witty man with a profound love for music.  An exceptionally accomplished songwriter and guitarist, he created his own distinctive style and sound.  He was often found writing songs and playing music for his daughter, Nia, who will greatly miss his melodious works.  Joe's guitar was his heart and soul!

On June 30, 2019, Joe played his final note and answered the call to eternal rest.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mercer Mallory; and his nephew, Mike Mercer Mallory.  His departure has left a void in the hearts of all who loved him dearly.

Loving memories will be forever be treasured by his only daughter, Nia Malika Lavant of Albany, GA; granddaughters, Dierra Davis and Di'Asia Davis of Albany, GA; sibling, Fannie Mallory of Syracuse, NY; uncle and aunt, Odell (Sarah) Naylor of Albany, GA and Jewel Hardwick Davis of Dawson, GA; nieces, TraVenna Taylor of Syracuse, NY and Eleanor Trisa Mallory of Albany, GA; four great nephews and nieces; a devoted cousin/sister, Maggie Dawson; a special family friend, Emma Jackson of Albany, GA; and a host of cousins and friends.
