Obituary

The season of life for Julia Mae Sales Felder began in Fort Gaines, Georgia on October 10, 1947.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Solomon Sales, Sr., and Mattie Mae Jones.

She was educated in the Clay County School System, including Speight High School.  Throughout her school years, she was a vibrant, inquisitive student with a zeal for learning and new experiences; and she was a ray of sunshine to peers, teachers, and close friends.

Julia was raised in a Christian home where she was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character, and loving kindness.  At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ, promising the Lord that she would live her life dedicated to His purposes.  From that time forward, she devoted herself faithfully in Christian stewardship.  In later years after relocating to Miami, Florida, Julia united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Carol City.  Over the years, she rendered unparalleled service in her calling as an Usher.  Her faith and trust in God guided her life and allowed her to be an example for family, friends, church family, and all who encountered her.  Upon her return to Georgia, she activated the principles of the church covenant and united with Union Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of her cousin, Reverend Dr. John A. Severson and remained a dedicated member until her demise.  She served faithfully as an Usher, Deaconess, and past president of the Sanctuary Choir.  Her powerful and infectious faith in God kept her spiritually strong.

She was united in holy matrimony to her life-long mate, James R. Felder.  They shared a love that was strong and a devotion to each other that was unshakeable.  For more than 50 years, she proved to be a true anchor and helpmate to her husband and supported him in all his endeavors.  Julia was steadfast in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love and strong family values.  As a wife and mother, she ate not the bred of idleness and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.  She eagerly welcomed family and friends into her heart and home; was dedicated to making everyone feel special; and she worked diligently to create fond and lasting memories.

Julia was a conscientious, persistent individual whose professional career was marked by hard work and unquestionable integrity.  She was employed with the State Attorney's Office of Florida for innumerable years where she retired after rendering exceptional and unmatched service.  Not satisfied with idleness after retiring from her very rewarding career and relocating to Leesburg, Georgia, Julia accepted employment with the Dougherty County School System as a transportation aide.  She had a deep love for children and was relentless in guiding, inspiring, nurturing, and encouraging all students.

Woman of God, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Julia had a servant's heart and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others.  She was a loyal and well-respected neighbor in the Scott Lakes community; a trusted advisor and confidant of many members in her church; and friend who exhorted everyone to believe the best of others, believe God, and act in faith.

On August 17, 2021, Almighty God called his faithful servant home to eternal rest and peace.  Although absent from the body, she will forever be present in the heart of her beloved husband, James R. Felder; her son, Issac (Lavandrett) Felder; brothers, Solomon Sales, Jr., Leroy Sales, and Grady Sales; grandchildren, Kevon, Issac Jr., Victoria, and Joshua; great grandson, Kareem Felder; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
