IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen Chislum
Thomas
October 26, 1957 – November 5, 2020
Karen Chislum Thomas was born in Wayland, New York on October 26, 1957, to the late Eva and J. Richard Chislum.
During the early years of her life, she was educated in the Wayland-Chohocton Central School District. In later years having developed a passion for cooking and food service, she continued her quest for knowledge through the United States Armed Forces Food Service Division in Europe, as well as Albany Technical College.
At a very early age, Karen accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. After moving to Leesburg, Florida, she united with the Leesburg Church of Christ. Through the years, she remained steadfast and prayerful in her daily walk.
She was united in marriage to her soul-mate, Charles Thomas. Together, they embarked on a life filled with love and true devotion to each other. Over the years, she proved to be a strong tower and true anchor to her husband.
Karen had a servant's heart and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others. She always found the good in people and could make a friend anywhere she went. She had a spirit of sunshine and laughter that could be felt by all who encountered her. Her words of encouragement and lofty deeds enriched the lives of many people and will never be forgotten. Karen enjoyed reading, video games, listening to Joel Osteen, and cooking.
On November 5, 2020, Karen was called home to eternal rest and peace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Annie Tills, Eva Davis, Ruby Chislum, and Helen Chislum.
She leaves cherished memories and a legacy of love that will forever remain with her beloved husband, Charles Thomas; her sister-in-law, Sharon (Elder Jacob) Strawder of Albany, GA; a very special niece, Stephanie (Calvin) Dixon; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
