Obituary

Kathy Elaine Williams was born Kathy Elain Durham on October 27, 1959, to Icie Lee Durham of Albany, GA. She was raised in a loving family with her grandparents, Ira and Henrietta Durham. Kathy attended Jackson Heights Elementary School, where she found her love for school and learning; a love that would blossom into a passion to teach. With administrators like the greatly admired Mr. Harvey, Ms. Williams was inspired to be a part of the world of education.

Kathy continued her education at Dougherty Comprehensive High School, graduating in 1977. Post high school, Ms. Williams was admitted to Albany State College, earning her Bachelor's degree in Education (specializing in middle grades). Determined to make the kind of impact she experienced as a child, she continued her educational matriculation until she received a Specialist Degree in Administration.

Kathy took her passion for teaching seriously. She loved teaching and taught many children; experiencing the beauty of generation after generation. She taught students who grew up and brought their students to her. Fifth grade was her favorite grade to teach until her retirement in 2018.

Kathy Durham Williams was raised in the church. She became a faithful member of the Mount Early Missionary Baptist Church and remained until her passing.

Not only did Kathy love God and education, but she also found love in her heart for Danny Lee Williams Sr. She was joined in holy matrimony on August 8, 1980. With their union, their only child, Danny Lee Williams Jr., was born. Kathy loved her son and husband dearly. She was proud to be a great mother and grandmother to her only grandchild, Danny Lee Williams III. A grandmother's love is always to be cherished between grandmother and grandchild. A special love and bond will be in her heart for Kendra Whitmire. She will forever be grateful to have someone to care for and love her boys.

After retirement, Kathy enjoyed family, friends, and traveling. While fulfilling her dream of traveling, she received an invitation to travel a little further.

On February 17, 2024, Kathy heard the Lord call her name and went to start her new life in heaven.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Lee Williams Sr.; brother, Ronald Bernard Durham (Ronnie); and mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She leaves her precious memories to her son, Danny Lee Williams Jr. (Kendra); grandson, Danny Lee Williams III (Trey); a devoted nephew/son, Ricky Williams; a devoted sister, Tashera Durham; a beloved friend, Otis Young; best friends for life, Beverly Sutton and  Sylvia Wright; very close cousins/sisters, Avril Coley, Betty Graper, and Patricia Watkins; devoted nieces, Laquanda Butts, Schiquita Butts, Pershenia Murray; a host of close-knit family and friends; and special appreciation to Tina Williams.

Everyone who has ever met Kathy Elaine Durham Williams holds love and admiration in their heart and will forever be grateful for the privilege of time. Take your rest until we meet again.
