Obituary

The season of life for Kay Frances Johnson began on November 17, 1934, in Milledgeville, Georgia.  She was the youngest daughter of the late Ethel Huley. Unable to adequately provide for her daughter as she deeply desired, Ethel enlisted the aid of family members, Marvin and Carrie Morris, who eagerly provided a loving home for Kay that was filled with strong Christian values as they nurtured and cared for her as their own daughter.

As she sprouted and grew, Kay Frances attended the public schools of Baldwin   County, graduating from Eddy High School.  A very talented, astute student with a passion for learning, she was an active member of the French Club and the school's chorus. Kay had a beautiful inner strength that made her a favorite among teachers, classmates, and close friends.  After graduation, she moved to Albany, Georgia and continued her quest for knowledge at Albany Junior College.

From a very early age, Kay Frances was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character, and loving kindness.  In her youth, she    professed her faith in Christ and dedicated her life to His purpose.   While beginning her life Albany,  she united with the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully under the leadership of the late Reverend R. N. Elzia.  As she continued in her season still excited and enthusiastic about God's work, Union Missionary Baptist Church became her final earthly church home under the covering of Reverend Dr. John A. Severson.  Over the years, she utilized her uniquely rich contralto voice to minister in song with the #2 Choir.   Yes, she gave her all to the Glory of God!

Kay Frances was united in holy matrimony to Jack Johnson, Jr. who preceded her in death.  Their union was blessed with two sons, Clifford and Larry who were taught to love God, to love one another and to be respectful.  She worked hard to consistently pursue excellence in her home; giving her best to her husband, sons, and her loving granddaughter who held the lock and key to her heart.  Not only was she a meticulous homemaker, but a  great provider for her family as well.  She was an exceptionally persistent, conscientious employee with Coats & Clark of Albany for innumerable years.  Throughout her career, she never shied away from hard work; constantly    exceeded department goals; and always gave her best—no matter what the task.  Upon retirement, she was lauded as a loyal, dedicated employee who rendered outstanding and unparalleled service.  Kay Frances' life after work included shopping, cooking, watching televised basketball games, joviality, and caring for her plants and flowers.

Blessed beyond measure, Kay Frances lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 88; and left an enduring legacy of  kindness, laughter, generosity, and dedication that she shared with family and friends.  Freely she opened the umbrella of  unconditional love to many who will always remember and cherish her life's journey.

The season of Kay France Johnson's earthly life ended as she heeded the call of     Almighty God to transition from labor to reward on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at her home.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Clifford  and Larry  Johnson; and seven siblings, Jeanette Morgan, Louis Huley, Sr., Ella Little-Dickey, Bobby Lloyd, Wilbur Little, Lucille Mills, and Walter Pittman.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her granddaughter, Rhoda Johnson George (Tony); great grandchildren, Montavious Johnson, Prophetess Porsha Hunt (Joshul), and Vashad Christian; great-great grandchildren, Nyshon Oliver, Makaydence Johnson, R'Rhiana Peterson, My'King Johnson, Jozalyn Hunt, and Morayah Johnson; bonus grandchildren, Kayla Stubbs, and Ebonee Jones Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
