IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kimberly Vantrecia
Porter Jones
August 11, 1969 – December 7, 2023
Kimberly Vantrecia Porter Jones, affectionately known as "Kim," was born August 11, 1969, in Albany, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of Sweetie M. Porter and the late Donald McKinnie.
She received her early childhood and secondary education in the public schools of Dougherty County, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School in 1987. Throughout school, she was a highly motivated young lady with a zeal for learning. She continued her quest for knowledge at Albany Technical College in Cosmetology.
At an early age, Kim accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Third Kiokee Missionary Baptist Church. She dearly loved the Lord and remained humble and prayerful in her daily walk.
Kim was united in marriage to Michael E. Jones of Atlanta, Georgia. They shared a bond that was strong and unshakeable as a honored their vows to love and cherish each other. Together, they worked diligently to create a home for their daughter, Avier, that was filled with love, joy and strong values. Kim and Michael were always a guiding light for the family. Their affection and support extended to niece, Kuyi Porter; nephews, Hakeem and Nari Porter; and great nephew, Amil Porter.
A very talented individual, Kim displayed exceptional skills early in life as a "fashionista", a home decorator, and a floral designer. Her gift for decorating continued to flourish during her many years of employment at Hobby Lobby as she was called upon to design store displays. In recent years, Kim set her sights on baking. Her flare for making things beautiful was on display yet again in her cakes and desserts. They were both exquisite and delicious and sought after at all family gatherings.
Kimberly lived a life of kindness and compassion tempered with a very loving spirit. She had a servant's heart and felt most comfortable when helping others; was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things; and accepted everyone for who they were. You could not know her without loving her dearly.
Kimberly was called to her heavenly home on December 7, 2023. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Everlene Dublin, Cleveland Dublin, Milas Porter, and Ike McKinnie; uncles Carlton Leon Porter and Milas Porter, Jr., and an aunt, Juanita Porter. Kim was very much loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
Cherished memories will forever remain with her husband, Michael E. Jones; daughter, Avier N. M. Belk; mother, Sweetie M. Porter; siblings, Kwanteko Porter of Albany, GA and Kristopher (LaShaundra) Porter of Augusta, GA; aunt, Mary Porter; grandmother, Ruth Lavender; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
