Obituary

Kimberly Diane Sims was born in Albany, Georgia on July 2, 1968, to Mary Sims and the late Jimmy Tookes.  She was one of seven children.

Growing up in Albany, she was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School. Every class needed at least one person who could make everyone smile…..that was our Kim.  She was a beacon of light to everyone around her; teachers and classmates alike.

Imbued with a strong Christian background, Kim's Christian experience began at a very early age.   She was baptized and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of Christ at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she served  for many years under the leadership of the late Reverend R. N. Elzia.  In later years, yet under Reverend Elzia's capable guidance, she was among the charter members of the Greater Pine Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.  Through the years, Kim served faithfully in the choir and the usher ministry. She was rooted and grounded in the Lord.

Family relationships were vital to Kim and a source of great joy and fellowship.  Freely, she opened the umbrella of unconditional love and generosity not only to her children and grandchildren, but to her nieces and nephews as well.  She had a servant's heart and delighted in helping others—never asking anything in return.  Her love for all mankind was manifested through her daily walk.  You could not know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, church, and community.  She will be deeply missed.

Moses challenged us to "number our days that we may learn a heart of wisdom."  Kimberly's life reminds us all of that wisdom.  On Tuesday, October 3, 2024, having reached the fullness of her days, Almighty God summoned Kimberly Diane Sims to eternal rest.  In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John Sims, Melvin Sims, and Charles Sims.

Precious memories will forever be cherished by her mother, Mary Sims; her  children, Tyneshia Martin (Brittany Bishop) and Amerigo Hampton, Jr. (Breanna Martin); siblings, Lisa S. Roper, Kenneth Sims, and Curtis (Zena) Sims; grandchildren, TaNiyah Martin and Zeterria Kegler, Jr.; great grandchildren, Isabella Smith and Skylar Smith; nieces and nephews, Nikendra Bynum, Pamela Frazier, Kaitlynn McCray, Montrez West, and Kenneth Sims, Jr.; godsister, Ashley Davis; a devoted lifetime friend and companion, Charles Lake; and a host of cousins, extended family, church family, and friends.
