IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ladalia Denise
Reid Grant
April 6, 1956 – March 24, 2021
LaDalia Denise Reid Grant was born April 6, 1956, in Albany, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Prince Percy Reid, Jr. and the late Vernelle Johnson Reid.
She received her primary and secondary education in the public schools of Dougherty County, graduating from Monroe High School in 1973. A life-long learner with an insatiable appetite for knowledge, LaDalia furthered her education at Albany State College.
From a very young age, LaDalia was nurtured in the Word of God and taught the importance of living a life of integrity and loving kindness. As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and began her journey of Christian stewardship at Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years, she was a faithful member and devoted herself to unparalleled service until her health declined.
Having been totally captivated by George Grant, a whirlwind romance and courtship quickly evolved. In May 1981, LaDalia and George were united in holy matrimony and embarked on an adventurous life together while assigned to posts in California, North Carolina, Georgia and other parts of the country. She was a devoted mother who was steadfast in her efforts to create a strong, Christian home environment for her children and she delighted in supporting them in all their endeavors.
LaDalia was a conscientious, persistent individual whose professional career was marked by hard work, high expectations, and unquestionable integrity. While living in Washington DC, she was employed as a Fingerprint Analyst with the FBI and successfully progressed in her career. In later years, she joined the ranks of employees at the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base where she spent most of her career. Over the years, she held fast to her belief in professional ethics and responsibilities. Upon medical retirement, she was lauded as an outstanding and committed employee who always gave her BEST.
Known to have a nurturing, caring spirit, LaDalia was a strong but gentle lady with a heart of gold. She was a trusted friend and confidant, would lend a listening ear to those in need of compassion and support, and always looked forward to events with family and friends that brought them together in love and harmony. Regardless of the circumstances, she was always there to lend a helping hand without expecting anything in return. Her doors were always open to anyone in need and her friendliness and kindness to all people are lasting tributes to the beauty of her heart and soul. One of LaDalia's finest qualities was gratitude. Even in the midst of health challenges, she was always grateful for everything that came her way. She had a quiet strength, never complained, lived every day with a purpose, and always looked forward to a better future.
On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, LaDalia transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace with the Lord. Her beautiful smile, generous heart, and boundless spirit will be deeply missed; but her presence and ray of light will continue to live in the hearts of family and friends who loved her dearly.
LaDalia is survived by her beloved children, Ricardo Manuel (Jessica) Wheeler, Theresa Maria Grant, and Katrina Michelle Grant; her siblings, Prince P. (Carolyn) Reid III, Reverend Dr. Alfred E. (Sara) Reid, Leon E. (Athena) Reid, and Gerald S. (Jacquelyn) Reid; grandchildren, Kierra Nicole Davis, Tierra Michelle Davis, Zion Amyah Chapper, Ariana Marie Wheeler, and Xander Reid Wheeler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
