Larry Roger Sparks, Sr. was born June 25, 1954.  He was the son of the late Willard and Grace Sparks.

Growing up in Saginaw, Michigan, he received his early childhood and secondary education in the Saginaw Area School District, graduating from University High School. Throughout school, he was a very inquisitive student who garnered much from his educational experiences.

A man of great faith and belief in Christ Jesus,  Larry was always thankful for his many blessings and remained prayerful in his daily walk.

Very early in life, Larry's mother taught him the value of good work ethics, living a life of integrity, and to give his very best in all that he did.  Her teaching followed him into adult as he prepared to enter the workforce.  Over the years, Larry poured himself into work as a technician with General Motors.  He was a loyal, dedicated employee who worked diligently to meet and even exceed company standards.  He retired after rendering innumerable years of unparalleled service.  In is "off" time having been blessed with gifted hands and an eye for detail, Larry also engaged in fashion designing.  For many years, he fused exquisite cuts and sophisticated lines to create innovative styles that were unique and recognizable.  He was not happy with simply designing clothes, he wore the styles that he created; thus, becoming one of Saginaw's most fashionable icons of his time.

Devoted father and grandfather, one-of-a-kind brother and uncle, committed cousin, and loyal friend, Larry had a big heart for all things and found great pleasure in every circumstance.  The joy of his life was spending time with family and friends who often referred to him as the world's coolest dad; a man of joy and laughter with a million dollar smile; and a good-hearted man that everyone could rely on.  He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

On December 8, 2023, Larry transitioned from this earthly life at St. Frances Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Charmaine Sparks and Destri Santos.  Although his earthly departure leaves a void, we find joy in knowing that we will see him again.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his children, Larry (Quenesha) Sparks, Jr., Lee Gaines, Mazy Gaines, Jamie Gaines, Reisie Gaines, Selima Birney, and LaToya Burns; siblings, Willard Sparks, Jr., Charles Sparks, and Eric Sparks; grandchildren, Schroyce, Quaris, Quay, Freddie, Nee Nee, Larryon, Mady, Kari, Grace, Royal, Tarodge, Romeo, and Lavenia; nieces and nephews, Keosha, Crystal, Dewon, Eric, Tarrie, Martin, Bea, Ricky, Jason, Charles, and Deonta; aunts and uncles; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
