IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leana Childs
Green
October 9, 1920 – September 23, 2019
Mrs. Leana Childs Green made her heavenly transition on Monday, September 23, 2019, peacefully at home in Albany, Georgia.
Leana Childs Green was born October 9, 1920 in Baker County, Georgia to the late Ethel Haley Green and Jeff Green. Leana had two brothers and two sisters (Will B. OZ "Chick", Cassie May and Doretha, "Maggie") all of whom have preceded her in death.
Leana married the late Alfred Childs, Jr. until his death and to this union were born two daughters, Evelyn (Jim) and Othella (Andy) who are both deceased.
She moved to Rochester, NY to live with her daughters and was an employee of the University of Rochester until retiring. She served the campus and students for many years. After retirement, Leana returned to Albany, Georgia to live with her daughter Evelyn and son-in-law Jim. Later, she was reunited with her daughter Othella and son-in-law Andy when they relocated back to Albany.
Leana confessed Christ Jesus as her Lord and savior at an early age. She attended Aenon Baptist Church in Rochester, NY for many years serving on the Missionary Board. While living in Albany, Leana was a faithful member of Weldon Springs Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral care of Pastor Kevon Hawkins.
Leana shared Christ with her children, grandchildren and their offspring. She loved the Lord and loved everybody she came in contact with. She loved and cherished her family. Leana spent a life time of giving of herself personally and sharing wisdom. She wanted all her children to do and be their best. She will be forever remembered for her love, generous giving, encouraging words and wisdom she imparted. She had a beautiful and calming spirit. She enjoyed life, God's people and being a warrior for Christ.
She leaves to cherish her memory eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and twenty-four great, great grandchildren, one special nephew, Calving Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Leana is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
