Obituary

Lenzie Lee Gibson, Jr. was born in Camilla, Georgia on July 14, 1952. He was the beloved son of the late Lenzie Gibson, Sr. and the late Clara Ruth Dawson.

He was educated in the Baker County School System, graduating from Baker County High School in 1970.

In 1972, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country with distinction. During his enlistment, he received numerous commendations for his valor and bravery. At the close of his tours of duty in 1978, he received an honorable discharge and returned home to civilian life. He later became a long standing, lifetime member of the American Legion Post 512, and a proud member of the Buffalo Riders and the Holiday Society Club.

Lenzie had the great advantage of growing up in a home in which the Lord was feared and worshipped. As a youth, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Baker County. He later became a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon until God called him home. Lenzie had a servant's heart and felt most content when helping others. He was a shining example of humility and respect, and God's love for all mankind was manifested through his deeds and actions.

Throughout his life, Lenzie had a great appreciation for learning. He was ambitious and gave his very best at everything he did. For more than forty years, he was a highly respected and valued master barber in the Southwest Georgia area. His style, precision, creative abilities, business ethics, and professionalism garnered him the reputation of being an "expert" in his field. Lenzie was an inspiring example of a successful businessman, mentor, and role model who generously gave his time and talents to help other young entrepreneurs.

A man of many talents, Lenzie was a skilled horseman and hunter, a great communicator who loved to share stories and words of wisdom, and he had the unique ability to draw people towards him. He always had a positive attitude, was quick to smile and laugh, and was an expert at making people feel good about life. Lenzie loved his family unconditionally and delighted in spending time with them. He prided himself in having relationships and friendships full of love, humor, and respect.

On August 22, 2018, Lenzie peacefully transitioned to his eternal heavenly abode. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Anthony Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his life and memory a loving wife, Elizabeth Keith-Gibson; his children, Lenzie Gibson, III and Montrail Gibson of Albany, GA, Deazie (Erik) Gibson-Jantzen of Leawood, KS, Cintonia Gibson, Akiscia Bryant, and Anthony (Kiara) Tolbert of Atlanta, GA, Demetrius (Simone) Bryant of Jacksonville, FL, Shannon Len Woods of Houston, TX, and Devin Gibson of Dyess AFB—Abilene, TX; stepdaughters, Kimberly Boatwright and LaTasha Keith of Albany, GA; brothers, Marvin J.
