IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leroy Renard
Covin
June 15, 1946 – September 16, 2024
Leroy Renard Covin was born June 15, 1946, in Sylvester, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late Carrie Bell Covin. While growing up, Leroy's favorite desserts during his childhood were sweet potato pie and moon pie; thus, earning him the nickname "Pie Man."
He received his early childhood education in the Worth County School System. After moving to Albany, Georgia with his family, he continued his education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School. Throughout school, Leroy was a very bright and inquisitive young man who garnered much from his educational and co-curricular experiences.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Antioch Baptist Church. Never straying so far that he couldn't return, Leroy rededicated his life to God, uniting with Saint Paul MissionaryBaptist Church. Jesus said it best, "My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand." John 20:27-28 HCSB
Leroy wanted to see the world up close and personal. Committed to this dream, he made it a reality by becoming a master truck driver. For over 50 hears, he traveled to all 48 states—accident free! Like most drivers, he had his own infamous radio call. You could hear his strong voice on the line saying, "Breaker, breaker 1-9…..this is Snap Bean."
On Monday, September 16, 2024, at Pruitt Healthcare in Sylvester, Georgia, Leroy heard the voice of his Shepherd call for him. Offering the ultimate healing to a long-fought battle with cancer, Leroy was ushered into eternal rest. The Lord had given him longevity. Leroy was 78. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Lucille Covin Smith and Earnest Covin, Jr.
Leroy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Covin; five sons, Kanorris Covin (Bratisha), Kervin Covin (Elaine), Lamick Smith (Rose), Andre Owens (Lethia), Shun Grace (Michelle), and five daughters, Cartrice Covin, Tonya Covin, Shawnn Brinson (Paul), Shona West, and Shapheria Woolcock. Leroy will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Jocelyn, Keryn Deion, Josiah, Kalise, Aramis, Latasha, Aubrey, Bryson, and other grandchildren. Three brothers, Remus Covin (Delicious), Jack Hill (Helen), and Walter Hill. He has three sisters-in-law, Virginia Ball (Gary), Essie Wallace (Nathaniel), and Gloria Wright; three brothers-in-law, Sterling Wright, James Wright (Cressie), and Tommie Wright (Corene); and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
