Obituary

Leroy Mitchell was born on April 13, 1965, to the late James Mitchell, Sr. and the late Vera G. Mitchell.

He was educated in the Dougherty County public school system, graduating from Albany High School.

At an early age, he confessed Christ as Lord and Savior and later became a licensed minster.  He united with New Birth Fellowship Church, where he served faithfully on the Security Detail and Leadership Team until he transitioned home.  Minister Mitchell always greeted everyone with a smile as he stood on post to ensure the safety of all NBF worshippers.

In 2006, he took Joyce's hand in marriage and they enjoyed and celebrated a wonderful life together.

Minister Mitchell enjoyed helping others, which led him to become an  "all-around, top notch" salesperson.  After being employed with Cooper Tires, he worked for Primerica Life Insurance Company, and later embarked upon a successful career as a Salesman with Albany Chrysler Dodge, Jeep and Ram.

On Wednesday, November 06, 2019, Minister Mitchell answered the Lord's call to rest.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Ollie Mae Horton, Vera Mitchell Snell, King Mitchell, Jimmy Lee Mitchell and Nathaniel Mitchell.

Minister Mitchell leaves loving memories that will be forever cherished by his devoted wife, Joyce Mitchell; five caring sons and daughters, Pernell Ellis, Malachi Mitchell, Santana (Fred) Cromartie, Amanda Mitchell and Patrina Mitchell; three sons by love and marriage, Gregory (Jessica) Arnold, Michael (Tantarnea) Arnold, and Manswell Peterson II; eleven siblings, Diane Williams, Betty Moody, Andrew Mitchell, Bennie Mitchell, Charlie Mitchell, Sarah Clay, Barbara Harris, Willie (Rosetta) Mitchell, Lenton Mitchell, James Mitchell Jr. and Dorothy Harmon; a great aunt, Matty Lane; beloved grandchildren, Donte' Mitchell, Yasmine Barnes, Nehemiah Cromartie, Makiyan Arnold and Makari Arnold; a loving father and mother-in-law who cherished him dearly, Jessie and Jean Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
