Lillian Kathryn Green Ford was born in Terrell County, Georgia on February 1, 1937. She was the beloved daughter of the late Victor Green, Sr. and Jenny Murray Green.
She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School. Kathryn was a talented young woman who valued education and took advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow. She attended Albany Area Vocational-Technical School where she completed the requirements to become a licensed Cosmetologist.
At a very young age, she confessed her faith and belief in Christ Jesus. As she continued her Christian journey, she united with the Union Missionary Baptist Church. Kathryn was a faithful member for numerous years and served unfalteringly on the Nurse's Aide Board. Throughout life, she remained a steadfast and prayerful servant.
She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Bennie Ford. They shared a love and strong devotion to each other that endured through the years. She was a committed wife and mother who devoted her life to caring for the needs of her family through her career in cosmetology. For more than 50 years, she was a much sought-after hair stylist at Patterson's Beauty Shop. She loved her profession, was very passionate about her work, and utilized her talents to make clients look and feel their best. She had a quiet strength, never complained, and worked hard to consistently pursue excellence in her career.
Kathryn was a delightful individual with a nurturing heart, was selfless with her love, and a joy to be around. Her love for family and friends knew no boundaries and she touched their lives in a very special way. She was an altruistic individual who believed strongly in helping others and creating lasting memories. Kathryn will long be remembered for her kind spirit and unconditional love.
On August 21, 2020, Almighty God in His wise way removed from this life the soul of Lillian Kathryn Green Ford at Pruitt Palmyra Nursing Home. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Mary Green Westbrook, Fannie Green Cross, Walter T. Murray, Victor Green, Jr., and William "Billy" Green.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her son, Benjie Green; siblings, Luella G. Eflick of Cleveland, OH, Charlene Green, Cynthia G. (Walter) Anderson, Vickie Green, and Shirley Green all of Albany, GA, and Johnnie Green of Macon, GA; grandson, Omari Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
