Obituary

Lindsey Larry Williams was born in Albany, Georgia    on March 23, 1959.  He was the son of Reverend Walker Williams and Mary Ann Gaines.  At a very early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Albany High School and graduated in the class of 1978.

In November 1978, Lindsey geed the "call for military duty" and enlisted in the United States Army where he served with distinction.  He was stationed throughout the United States and abroad, and received numerous commendations as he advanced in the military ranks.  At the close of his tours of duty in December 1999, he received an honorable discharge and returned home to civilian life.  Lindsey was not satisfied with idleness after his discharge; rather, he continued serving his country through his employment at the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base until his retirement in 2014.

Lindsey was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a patient and loving husband and father.  He was united in holy matrimony to Gerri Binn and they were blessed with a family of two children whom they loved dearly.

Devoted son, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, and loyal friend, Lindsey was a very outgoing person who garnered much from his life experiences.  His love for family and friends was infinite and he cherished each moment spent with them.  He had an engaging personality, gigantic heart, and a very welcoming spirit.  The strong bonds of friendship that he developed through the years will forever be remembered.

Life's earthly journey quietly ended on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendell and Elijah Williams; and his stepfather, Willie James Peterson.

Fond memories will forever be cherished by his parents, Reverend Walker Williams of Live Oak, FL and Mary Ann Peterson of Albany, GA; two children, Nakia Jordan and Linzzie Williams of Albany, GA; his brother, Leon (Dawn) Williams of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Kiayrice, Tristen, and Jordan of Albany, GA; and a host of beloved relatives, friends, and co-workers.
