Obituary

Lisa Rena Woods was born in Albany, Georgia on August 17, 1960.  She was the beloved daughter of Bennie Mae Davis and the late Roger Lewis.

In her formative years, "Rena," as she was known by many, attended Albany High School and graduated in 1978.  While at Albany High, she was very active in numerous school organizations and activities.

After graduation, having a strong sense of loyalty and commitment to her country, Rena enlisted in the United States Navy where she served with distinction.  During her enlistment, Rena met and married the love of her life, David Woods.  Their union endured through the years and they were blessed with a wonderful family.  Together, they took great care in creating a home in Jacksonville, Florida that was filled with love, guidance, encouragement, and support.  Family ties and responsibilities were paramount in their lives; and in later years, they relocated to Albany, Georgia to be closer to family.

Rena began her Christian walk with the Lord at Union Missionary Baptist Church after her husband's untimely demise.  She was a faithful servant of the Lord and  willingly served wherever needed in the church.

A kind-hearted individual who showed love in many ways, Rena was one of those rare people who always had the interest of others at heart.  She was selfless, saw the beauty in all things, and accepted everyone for who they were.  One of her finest qualities was gratitude. Even in the midst of health challenges and adversities, she was always grateful for every thing that came her way.  Through it all, she remained strong and created lasting memories that will never be forgotten.

On November 27, 2019, Rena found everlasting peace and rest.   In addition to her father and beloved husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Brianna Woods; and her brother, Vince Gilyard.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Tiffany Knighton of Sarasota, FL, and Asia Woods and Brennan Woods of Albany, GA; her mother, Bennie Mae Davis of Albany, GA; special friend and companion, Alfredish Westbrook; aunt, Mary Ann Gilyard; siblings, Vicky Lewis, JoAnne Lewis, and Roger Lewis of Albany, GA, and Melody Anthony of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Brooklyn Ellis and Bre'Ani Knighton of Sarasota, FL, and Brennan Woods, Jr., Braylen Woods, Karly Woods, Bre'Kaydence Woods, Bre'Yon Woods, Brayleigh Woods, Bayleigh Woods, and Ja'Darrious Ousley all of Albany, GA; and a host of uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
