IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lizzie
Dotson
December 16, 1941 – March 31, 2024
Lizzie Mae Dotson was born in Albany, Georgia on December 16, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Daisy McNair Dotson.
She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1961. Lizzie's deep thirst for knowledge stirred her to continue her education at Albany State College where she was awarded the Bachelor of Science degree. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
Throughout her childhood, Lizzie was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, she began her journey with the Lord at Blue Spring Missionary Baptist Church. Through every season of her life, she remained prayerful and humble—nothing could separate her from the love of God.
Lizzie was blessed to have had an exceptionally rewarding career at Albany State University that spanned a period of 30 years. A very conscientious and persistent individual, she worked in numerous capacities within the Fiscal Affairs Division; was a top-notch organizer; never shied away from a challenge; and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to support co-workers and students. Upon retirement, she was lauded for her character, integrity, high expectations, work ethics, and perseverance.
A genuinely kind and selfless individual, Lizzie was a good natured, generous lady with a big heart. She believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping others—never asking anything in return. Lizzie was a very determined woman; but she was also full of compassion for others. Her warm smile, gentle touch, and loving presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of her life.
On March 31, 2024, Lizzie transitioned from this earthly to eternal peace and rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dontarrius Williams; and two brothers, Cornell Dotson, Sr. and Samuel Dotson, Sr.
Loving memories will forever remain with her grandson, De'Quan A'darrius Ja'Marrion Williams; her siblings, Irma D. James of Dayton, OH, Elizabeth (Emmett) Williams of Baconton, GA, Carol (Jesse) James of Albany, and Fred (Juanita) Norman of Fayetteville, NC; sister-in-law, Janice Dotson of Columbus, GA; aunt, Beatrice Smith of Albany, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; Albany State College/University family; and very special caregivers, Pamela E. Williams and Trinia Garner.
