IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lonnie Charles
Green, Sr.
February 12, 1951 – March 26, 2025
In 1951, God breathed again… and life was born. Lonnie Green was born on February 12, 1951, in Colquitt County, to Annie Louise Ware and Isaac Green. He was proudly raised by his aunts: Gracie King, and Mary Hampton. Green was educated in the Colquitt County School System and successfully moved into the working world.
Lonnie began his career in law enforcement where he served as a part of the Albany Police Department. Despite the joys of public service, he later became an accomplished entrepreneur, founding and operating his own business, "Green Concrete Finishing". His work ethic was unmatched, and throughout his life, he remained committed to supporting and providing for those he loved.
One of the greatest loves of Lonnie's life was his wife who proceeded him in death, Ruby Green. They first met in high school, and although life took them in different directions for a time, fate brought them back together. Their reconnection led to a deep and lasting bond, and they were married soon after. Ruby was the love of his life, and their relationship provided him with great joy and strength.
Lonnie Green was ordained a deacon in the Lord's church at the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. His faith was an important part of who he was; as a devoted Christian and deacon, he lived a life of service to his church and community.
Retirement days did not slow Mr. Green down. He kept himself busy, finding purpose in every task he took on. Lonnie had many passions that made him truly special. A talented artist, his drawings reflected his creativity and unique perspective. He was also known for his beautiful singing voice, which could light up any room.
Lonnie's outgoing personality, love for his family, and God-fearing nature touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved no matter who they were. His generosity, kindness, and unwavering support of those around him will forever be remembered.
On March 26, 2025, Lonnie was called to rest in the presence of the Lord. In addition to his parents and beloved wife he was also preceded in death by four siblings: Willie F. Ware, Lougene Ware, Glenn Green, and Martha Green Price.
