Obituary

Lucy Hand Davis was born in Leesburg, Georgia on April 8, 1952.  She was the beloved daughter of the late James Harvey and Louise Hand-Grant.

She was educated in the Lee County School System where she excelled academically, was actively involved in numerous student-related school activities, and took advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow.  She continued her education at Albany Technical College where she completed the requirements to become a licensed cosmetologist.

Very early in life, Lucy was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of strong character and loving kindness.  As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and began her journey of Christian stewardship at Third Kiokee Baptist Church.  She dearly loved the Lord and fervently availed herself in service as a member of the Willing Workers Ministry and the Senior Choir.  She also served as Vice President of the GMBC Women of Excellence.  Lucy loved serving and unyieldingly believed that because the Lord called her duty—to serve was truly an honor.  Beyond her church ministries and affiliations, Lucy was an active member of Ruth Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Stars and served as a 33˚ Worthy Matron.

Lucy was united in marriage to Albert James Davis who preceded her in death.  Together, they embarked on a life filled with love and true devotion to each other.  She was a devoted wife who delighted in supporting her husband in all his endeavors and they spent many happy years together.

A woman of many skills and talents, Lucy possessed a deep passion for hairstyling and a burning desire to make people feel beautiful.  Her drive and determination catapulted her entrepreneurial journey as a master cosmetologist.  Over the years, she worked diligently to maintain high standards of excellence while creating innovative hairstyles and providing exceptional service and personalized attention that was second to none.  She took the whole person into account when styling and upon leaving her chair, clients always looked their best.

On July 8, 2024, Lucy transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  She was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of her beloved sisters, Janie Belle of Albany, GA and Mae Pittman of Atlanta, GA; aunts, Virginia Hand of Leesburg, GA and Martha Maxie of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
