IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lula Mae
Wilson
March 23, 1926 – September 25, 2017
Lula Mae Wilson, beloved daughter of the late Estella and Ira Durham, was born in Worth County, Georgia on March 23, 1926.
She received her formal education in the Worth County School System.
As a youth, Lula Mae professed her faith and belief in Jesus Christ. She was baptized and received the right hand of fellowship into the body of the Mt. Early Baptist Church.
She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, John Henry Wilson. This union was blessed with children whom they nurtured and cared for with patience, discipline, humility and love. As a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, she was diligent in caring for the needs of her family.
"Mother Wilson" as she was affectionately called by many, was a source of encouragement and joy to everyone she met. She had a deep sense of family loyalty, ties, and responsibilities, and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others. Her home was a revolving door for friends, family and they all loved her dearly. One of the joys of her life was cooking and her table was always spread not only to family, but to anyone in need. She was known throughout the community for her soulful cooking—especially her 17-layer cakes. In her free time, she could often be found enjoying the outdoors and savoring the beauty of the earth.
On Monday, September 25, 2017, Mother Wilson's earthly journey ended and she transitioned to her eternal home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Henry Wilson, and six siblings.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Estella smith, Lillie P. McDonald, Vera Wilson, John F. Wilson, Curtis (Gloria) Wilson and Leotis Wilson all of Oakfield, GA, and Lois Potts, Geraldine Cobey, Brenda Kimbrough, and Zackery Wilson all of Albany, GA; one sister and brother-in-law, Ardie D. Watkins and Ira Watkins; 67 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren; and a host of great-great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
