A Time to Be Born: Luretha Lewis Harris was born in Albany, Georgia to the late Adonis Marshall and Lucille Holmes Lewis .
A Time to Learn: She attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe High School where she was an active member of the varsity basketball team and the Class of 1966. She continued her education at Albany Junior College in the area of Nursing.
A Time to Serve: At an early age, she confessed her love for Christ and united with the Third Kiokee Baptist Church serving faithfully for many years under the leadership of the late Pastor R. B. Smith, Sr. She later became a member of the New Vision Ministry under the guidance of Pastor Kenneth Fairbanks where she remained until her health failed.
A Time to Love: Lula as she was affectionately called, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. On February 16, 1999, she married her soul mate, Gabe Harris and they enjoyed many happy years together until his untimely demise.
A Time to Work: Over the years, Lula's passion for pleasing and serving others inspired her to pursue her dream of becoming a floral designer. She was employed at several florists, including Flower Gazebo and Winn-Dixie where she was given the latitude to express herself through countless floral designs and arrangements.
A Time to Rest: On Monday, April 30, 2018, Lula answered her final call and quietly transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Susan Reeves, Jessie Mae Davis, and Lester Lewis; and two nephews that she raised as her own, Edward Lewis and James Lewis.
A Time to Cherish: Loving memories will forever be cherished by her loving and dedicated children, Lois T. Hollis of Jacksonville, FL and Minister Adonis M. Lewis of Albany, GA; three siblings, Jessie Carter of Albany, GA, Winford Lewis of Donaldsonville, GA, and Marie (Oneal) Bowens of Albany, GA; sister-in-law, Bennie Mae Lewis of Albany, GA; four grandchildren, Dallas, JaMichael, Christopher, and Tequila; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
