IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maggie P.
Cowart
May 20, 1924 – July 9, 2019
The journey of life for Maggie P. Cowart began on May 20, 1924. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joe Daniels and Willie Lee Jackson Edwards.
Very early in life, Maggie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Through the years, she continued her walk with the Lord. She was a dedicated member of The Assembly of Saints of Pelham, Georgia and served faithfully wherever needed. She was strong in faith, in character, in wisdom, and she stayed on the battlefield until her health declined.
Maggie was united in holy matrimony to Winston Johnson, Sr. who preceded her in death. Their union was blessed with children whom they taught to love the Lord, to be humble and respectful, and to stick together through the trials and triumphs of life. She later married Paul Cowart and they enjoyed many happy years together until his death. Domestic at heart, she ate not the bread of idleness; she was constant in her efforts to care for the needs of her family.
"Mother Cowart, Little Diva, Suga-Suga," as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, lived a life of kindness and compassion. You could not find a better friend, listener, advisor, or confidant. Throughout her life, she unselfishly gave of herself to help improve the quality of life for others. Her love never wavered—she saw the beauty in all things, accepted everyone for who they were, and openly welcomed them into her heart and home. One of her greatest qualities was her ability to encourage everyone to make the best of everything. She believed wholeheartedly that there was no obstacle that could not be overcome. Her kind, gentle spirit will always have a special place in our hearts.
On July 9, 2019, Mother Cowart's earthly journey ended and she transitioned to eternal rest. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by eight siblings; a stepson; and two grandchildren.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her children, Jimmy (Patricia) Johnson and Glenda (Oliver) Vicks of Camilla, GA, Willie Johnson of Brunswick, GA,, Sarah (Jerome) Pace of Pelham, GA, Winston Johnson, Jr. of Camilla, GA, Callie Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Mary (Jesse) Valadez of Pelham, GA, Retha Mae Bell of Leesburg, FL, and L. V. Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL; 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
