Mrs. Maggie Lou Jones was born in Lee County, Georgia on July 7, 1931. During the early years of her life, she attended school in the Lee County Public School System.
Often described as a persistent, hardworking individual who diligent in caring for the needs of her children. For more than 30 years, she was employed as a Dietician with the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where she labored untiringly until her retirement.
"Mother Jones" as she was affectionately called, was a very kind, good natured, and generous lady who was a joy to be around. She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things; accepted everyone for who they were; and openly welcomed family, friends, and residents of her community into her heart and home. She was considered by many as a wise and trusted counsel, a difference maker, and a strong but humble person who will be missed dearly.
On December 2, 2018, Mother Jones departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by two children, Juanita Hampton and Willie C. Hampton.
Loving memories will be forever cherished by her children, Vernice O. Jackson, Cornelia H. Mathis, Selma S. Jones, and Jessie C. Hampton; two very special grandsons, Patrick M. Hampton and Trentavios Chester; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great great grandchildren, and friends.
