Magnolia Battle Taylor was born in Sparta, Georgia on August 10, 1924. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joe and Pollie Battle.
A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, she became a member of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member and served faithfully until the Lord called her home. Magnolia was a woman of prayer, of faith, and of courage who stood boldly for the cause of Christ.
Believing that marriage is ordained by God, she was united in holy matrimony to Ulysee Taylor, Sr. Their union endured through the years and they were blessed with seven children—Versey, Ulysee Jr., Willie Mae, Jessie Mae, Elizabeth, Robert, and Johnny. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who skillfully balanced her responsibilities as a homemaker with her employment as a domestic worker in private homes until her retirement. After her retirement, she devoted her time to nurturing and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the "apples of her eye."
Blessed beyond measure, Maggie lived to see four generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness. She was the emotional touchstone for her entire family and the "glue" that held them together. Maggie was a kind, generous lady who greeted each day with a smile; provided guidance and support, savored the beauty of God's creation; and touched the lives of many .
