Makita Brown Butts, daughter of the late Albert B. Brown and Elberta Montgomery Brown, was born in Miami, Florida on April 26, 1975.
She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System where she participated in various school organizations and activities. Makita's deep thirst for knowledge stirred her to attain a higher level education. She was pursuing a degree in Business at Albany Technical College until her health declined.
Early in life, Makita accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Victory Tabernacle Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Bishop Marcus V. White. She later united with Total Grace and Mercy Ministries under the pastoral leadership of Apostle Toney and Bishop Deatrice Brinson. She had a deep passion for working with the youth of the church and the Praise and Worship Ministry. She was a faithful member and worked wherever needed.
On April 16, 2015, Makita was united in marriage to Shawn "Rico" Butts.
Makita was deeply devoted to her family and friends and she took great pleasure in spending time with them. She was kindhearted, loving, and always had a "soft spot" for children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
On Sunday, June 10, 2018, Makita transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Burton Brown and Kennedy B. Brown.
She leaves many memories that will be cherished by her husband, Shawn "Rico" Butts of Albany, GA; siblings, D'Andrea M. Jones and Willette C. Brown of Brunswick, GA, Trellis Brown and Kwazie S. Brown of Albany, GA, and Marie Mills and Albertina Brown of Macon, GA, and Rozita Thomas Murray of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
