Obituary

Malinda Bailey was born in Blakely, Georgia on May 28, 1923. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lucille Walker Humphrey and Clarence Humphrey.

During the early years of her life, she was educated in the Early County School System.

As a youth, Malinda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Stephen Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for a lifetime of Christian stewardship. Through the years, she was a faithful, dedicated member who willingly served in numerous capacities wherever needed. "Mother Bailey" as she was endearingly called by many, was a prayer warrior who was strong in her faith, in character, and in wisdom. Her faith in God never wavered—she was a vessel who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord.

Mother Bailey lived a life of kindness and compassion tempered with a loving spirit. She had a servant's heart and felt most comfortable when helping others. The joys of her life were her family and friends whom she loved dearly and delighted in spending time with them. She was a selfless person who saw he beauty in all things, accepted everyone for who they were, and openly welcomed them into her heart and home. You couldn't know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, church, and community. She will long be remembered for her smile, strength, and loving personality. In her leisure, she enjoyed an array of activities, including holiday cooking and family cookouts.

On Wednesday, February 20, 2019, Mother Bailey quietly answered the Master's call to come home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Bailey, Jr.; sister, Louise Williams; and her sons, Willard Bailey and Gene Bailey.

Fond memories will forever be cherished by her loving children, Elder Clarancy Jackson of McKlenny, FL, Mary (Robert) Gregory of Florence, SC, Carolyn Brown of Albany, GA, Geraldine Bailey, Yvonne Brooks, and Charles Bailey all of Blakely, GA, and Freddie Bailey of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Lubertha Brown of Bloomfield, CT; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
