Marie Duncan Stokes Poole was born in Cuthbert, Georgia on September 30, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Roy Duncan and Nancy Blackmond.
During the early years of her life, she attended the public schools of Randolph County.
From a very early age, Marie was nurtured in the Word of God and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. In later years, she united with the Phillip Grove Baptist Church where she continued her Christian walk with the Lord.
In 1978, she was united in holy matrimony to Reverend George Poole who preceded her in death. Together, they nurtured their family with love, kindness, and care and they were blessed with many happy years.
"Mother Poole" as she was affectionately called, was a strong but gentle woman with a heart of gold. She was compassionate, full of empathy, patient, and kind. She believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping and caring for others. To know her was to love and cherish her.
On Saturday, April 21, 2018, Mother Poole's 88-year journey ended as she answered the Master's call to come home. Although absent from the body, she will forever remain in the hearts of many people.
