Obituary

Martin Cooper, IV was born on June 16, 1967, in Paterson, New Jersey.   He was the beloved son of Elder Martin Cooper, III and the late Doris Waltower Cooper.

During the early years of his life, he received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County, including Westover High School where he graduated in 1985.  While at Westover, he was active in numerous school organizations, activities and sporting events.

Having professed his faith and belief in Jesus Christ, Martin united with Holy Temple Albany Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Gladis Lee.

Martin was a very persistent individual who gave his best at whatever he did.  Affectionately called "Pop" by family and close friends, he embraced opportunities and the chance to experience life with open arms.  He was a loving son, a dutiful father, a caring brother, a committed uncle, and a loyal friend who always remained upbeat and joyful through all of life's challenges.  In his leisure, he enjoyed football and basketball, and was a loyal fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, New England Patriots, and the Golden State Warriors.  He also enjoyed golfing, fishing with his children, and spending quality time with family and friends.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

On Monday, September 9, 2019, Martin departed this earthly life at the Willson Hospice House. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Waltower Cooper.

Fond memories will be forever cherished by his children, Kymberli Cooper, Marnisha Cooper, Martin Cooper V, and Marquez Cooper all of Albany, GA; his father, Elder Martin (Jennifer) Cooper, III; siblings, Falicia Cooper, Martina Cooper, and Michael Cooper of Jacksonville, FL, Dorcia (Dennis) Soilberry of Albany, GA, and Frank Waltower of Augusta, GA; aunts, Frankie Cooper of Patterson, NJ, Velma Jones, Edith James, and Virginia White of Augusta, GA, Katherine Riley of Cleveland, OH, Edwina Williams of Rivera Beach, FFL, Daisy Isom, Patricia (Jonathan) Moses, Mary Coley, Jennie Copper, Iris (Maurice) Hart, and JoAnn Cooper all of Flint, MI, Riley Cooper of Albany, GA, and Dianne Cooper of Riverdale, GA; uncles, Clint Waltower of Oakland, CA and Frank Cooper of Patterson, NJ; grandchildren, Brandon Cooper, Brenda Cooper, Brendon Cooper, and Brevana Cooper all of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
