Mary Emma Hardage, daughter of the late Charlie and Emma Means, was born June 4, 1948, in Albany, Georgia. She was educated in the public schools of Dougherty County. She was employed by the Ritz Theatre in Albany, Georgia and also enjoyed several years as a homemaker, caregiver, and nurse's assistant.
"May Emma" confessed Christ at an early age and joined Union Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she was known for her laughter and free-spirited nature. She enjoyed cooking and shopping for her family. Later in life, she moved to Florida to be closer to her children and continued to enjoy the simple things of life. The Sunshine State gave her many opportunities to enjoy the simple things of God, including her service at New Hope Assembly of Jacksonville, Florida.
A Time of Peace
"May Emma" departed this life Friday, January 25, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Means and Emma Means; and her sister, Debra Seay.
She leaves to cherish her memories, Jimmy (Brenda) Means of Albany, GA, Felecia ( Cornell) Brunson of Jacksonville. FL, Walter Means of Albany, GA, Gregory (Amonika) Means of Murfreesboro, TN, Donald (Chinova) Means of Jacksonville, FL, Sabrina Hardage of Albany, GA, and LaTosha (Albert) Wallace of Jacksonville FL, two siblings, Charlie Means Jr. and Annie Mary Means of Albany, GA; one brother—in-law, Johnny Seay of Jacksonville, FL; 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
