Obituary

Mary McCoy Jones lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to her family and community. Born on May 4, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Mrs. Mozella Randall, she grew into a woman of strength, resilience, and unwavering kindness.

Her journey was one marked by hard work, deep devotion to her loved ones, and a steadfast commitment to making a positive impact on those around her.

Mary's career reflected her passion for service. She worked as a housekeeper at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and spent over 38 years as a school bus driver, ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children. Her impeccable safety record earned her the highest honor in her profession—recognition for never having an accident throughout her tenure. She also dedicated time as a school crossing guard, helping young students navigate busy streets with care and patience. In addition to these roles, she worked in office cleaning, demonstrating an unmatched work ethic and commitment to excellence in everything she did.

Family was at the heart of Mary's life. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Roosevelt Jones, and a loving mother to her children: Janice Jones, Jacqueline Brown (Earvin). Her love extended to her grandchildren—Nakisha Hall, Mychal Brown, Desmond Tookes, Britnie Jones, Udashia Jones, Shayna Laster (Otis), Shantaye Brown, Antoine Jones, Deandre Moses, Danyel Moses, Jamari Clinton, Jamarion Clinton, Maliachi Roberts, and Jamillah Clinton—along with her adopted grandchildren, Dwayne Watson and John Watson Jr. She was further blessed with 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

Mary shared a deep bond with her beloved sister, Dorethy Trotty, and was cherished by her extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Roosevelt Jones, mother Mozella Randall; her sons, Franklin Jones and Thomas Victor Jones; and her 20 siblings.

Her life was one of purpose, faith, and fulfillment. Mary was a woman of integrity who led by example, demonstrating that hard work, kindness, and love could create a legacy that would last for generations.

Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated caregivers, Kimberly Smith and Cassandra Petty, as well as the medical staff and all who supported her during her final days.
