Ms. Mary Morris Owens was born June 9, 1948 in Worth County, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Cate Morris and Mrs. Mollie Richardson Morris.
She attended the public schools of Worth and Dougherty Counties.
At an early age, she joined the Second Isrealite Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. W. Harris. Ms. Owens was an active member of the Senior Choir. She later united with the Walker Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where she served as Mother of the Church and Secretary of the Sunday School.
Ms. Owens' professional career in the retail industry included employment at Gayfers, Rayless, Family Dollar, and 24 years at Wal-Mart. After retirement, she took pleasure in nurturing and enjoying quality time with her beloved family.
On May 8, 1999, she was united in holy matrimony to Elder Robert Lee Owens, Sr.
She completed her earthly journey on Saturday, March 14, 2020, and transitioned to her heavenly home. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elder Robert Owens; four sisters, Hattie Morris, Julia Morris, Janie Brown, and Annie Doris Morris; and two brothers, Willie Morris and Jessie Morris.
Her love, devotion, and precious memories will forever be cherished by her loving son, William Derrick (Vontressa) Childs, Sr., caring daughter Pamela Lynn (Kenneth) Anderson of McDonough, GA; two sisters, Minnie Cockfield, and Evalene Morris; two brothers, James Morris and Herman (Debra) Morris of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, Shabrecca Shonta Sheard, Tecoria Maria Davis, Santerio Jamil (Elizabeth) Sheard, Abree Champ, William Derrick Childs, Jr., Tevin Lamon Roberts, Keirra Anderson, Darrius Marquis Childs and Kenadei McKayla Roberts; stepchildren, Anthony Owens, Robert Owens, Jr., Derrick Owens, and Demarris (Angel) Owens, all of Syracuse, NY; twelve great-grandchildren; an affectionate aunt, Willie Pearl Harris; a devoted best friend, Mary Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
