Obituary

Mattie Lou Monds was born was born in Terrell County, Georgia on January 25, 1928.  She grew up in Albany, Georgia under the guidance and loving hands of her grandmother, aunts, and uncles.

During the early years of her life, she was educated in the Dougherty County School System.

At a young age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and remained prayerful throughout life's journey.

Domestic at heart, Mattie was unwavering in her dedication to foster a home filled with love and joy.  Lovingly known as "Big Mama,"  she gave of herself freely and oftentimes sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.  She was blessed not only with children, but  grandchildren and great grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life.  Even in the toughest times, she always persevered and was a source of support and encouragement for her family.

Mattie was a good natured and generous lady with a warm personality who welcomed everyone into her heart and home with open arms.  She believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping and caring for others.  Her friendliness and kindness to all people and her devotion and love for her family and friends are lasting tributes to the beauty of her heart and soul.  Hidden under her kind demeanor was a quick wit that  could catch anyone off guard and generate laughs from all around.  "Big Mama" lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 93; was the glue that held her family together; and will be remembered by many as an unselfish servant with a sweet, sweet spirit.

On January 5, 2022, Mattie Lou/Big Mama transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest and peace with the Lord.  She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rebecca and Brenda.

She leaves beautiful memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Mary, Mildred, Alexander, Angela, and Clyde; twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, extended family, and friends.

Tears will flow and hearts will be heavy, but we all have memories to make us smile and share laughs.
