Obituary

McKinley Cobb was born in Albany, Georgia on July 16, 1933.  He was the son of  the late Zack and Alberta Cobb.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System. McKinley was a very inquisitive student who garnered much from his educational experiences.

McKinley's love for the Lord and the church began in the early years of his life.  He was a faithful member of Ephesus Baptist Church and was unwavering in his Christian stewardship.   He dearly loved the Lord, remained steadfast, and always gave God the praise for the many blessings in his life.

On July 31, 1959, McKinley was united in holy matrimony to Izora Lennear.  Their union endured through the years and was blessed with a loving family.   He was a devoted husband and father whose love for his family knew no boundaries.   For more than 40 years, he was a loyal, dedicated employee with the City of Albany.   Daily, he poured himself into his work; was exceptionally proud of the services that he provided; relished the friends that he made during his employment; and retired in 1990, having rendered outstanding and unmatched service..

McKinley had many interests, but his favorite pastimes were watching wrestling and cheering for his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves.  He also enjoyed spending time and finding common ground with family and friends.  Anyone who knew him would agree that he was extremely straight-forward, unpretentious, and strong-willed; but he was also the voice of kindness and encouragement and would always tell you the whole truth and nothing but the truth!  He will be deeply missed.

On February 23, 2023,  McKinley departed this earthly life to forever be with the Lord.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Izora Lennear Cobb; his grandchild, Malik Cobb; and five brothers, Eugene Sweeney, Hubert Cobb, Raymond Cobb, Sr., Julius Cobb, and Ezekiel Cobb.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his children, L. C. (Josephine) Cobb, Ella Jean (Leroy) Williams, Eula Mae Cobb, and Johnny Lee Cobb; his sister, Annie Ree (Jimmy Lee) Lennear; grandchildren, Shameka Cobb, Crontis Cobb, Sr., Shaunese Cobb, Jimmy Cobb, Monica (Eddie Jr.) Murphy, Quinta Cobb, Sr., Dennis Cobb, Kamishlian Cobb, and Gevontae Stephens; fourteen great grandchildren; a very special cousin, Eva Mae Porter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
