IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melvin
Butler
October 2, 1959 – May 25, 2022
Melvin Butler, son of the late Otha and Nancy Butler., was born in Randolph County, Georgia on October 2, 1959.
He was educated in the Calhoun County and Mitchell County School Systems, graduating from Mitchell County High School in 1977. Throughout school, Melvin was an exceptionally conscientious student who garnered much from his educational experiences and was actively involved in various school activities and sporting events.
At a very young age, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was added to the Beattie Road Church of Christ. He was a dedicated and committed servant who availed himself faithfully in Christian service. His faith and trust in God guided his life and allowed him to be an example for family, friends, church family, and all who came in contact with him.
Melvin was ambitious and gave his best at everything he did. He rendered twelve years of meritorious service to the United States Marine Corps and later worked for Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Georgia, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, and provided services for numerous community service organizations. When he wasn't working, he could often be found engaging in his favorite hobbies—fishing, talking, traveling, making people laugh, and spending priceless times with family and friend. Melvin will be remembered as a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and loyal friend whose smile and laughter were contagious. His absence leaves a void in hearts of many who loved him dearly.
On May 25, 2022, Melvin transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ben Butler.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his daughter, LaNisha Williams of California; siblings, Rosa Ward of Baconton, GA, Loraine (Robert) Tremblay of Boston, MA, Minnie Butler-Wallace of Riverdale, GA, Willie Butler of Atlanta, GA, Emma B. Quimbley of Albany, GA, Bertha B. Spence of Riverdale, GA, Annie M. Butler of Forsyth, GA, Marvin (Twin) Butler of Augusta, Ga, and Thomas Butler of Augusta, GA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
