Melvin Charles Brown, beloved son of Flora Grimes and the late Artis Brown, was born in Sylvester, Georgia on June 24, 1963.
He was educated in the Worth County School System, and was a 1983 graduate of Worth County High School. During his high school years, he was a star athlete, participating in Track and Field and football.
A man of faith and belief in Christ Jesus, Melvin united with the Vision Ministries Church where he served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Anderson. Throughout his Christian walk, he remained prayerful, steadfast, and was an inspiration to many others.
Melvin's professional career was marked by his employment at Ryder Trucking and Leasing Company as a tire technician, and at Bishop Clean Care. He was hailed as a loyal and dedicated employee who worked diligently to ensure that no task was left undone.
When Melvin wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family, engaging in thought-provoking conversations with his friends, and enjoying the great outdoors. He was considered by many as a trusted confidant, a difference maker, and a loving and jovial person with a great sense of humor. His smile and laughter captured the attention of everyone around. Melt, as he was affectionately called, made some very special life-long friends that he held very dear to him. He will be dearly missed.
On Friday, March 2, 2018, earthly journey ended as he transitioned to his eternal home.
Fond memories will forever be cherished by his children, Monique M. Brown, Melrose C. Grimes, and Shauskee Florence; his devoted mother, Flora Grimes; loving fiancé, Delorica Johnson Ward; siblings, Hirman (Pam) Grimes, Shelly (Tay) Sibley, Alvin Grimes, Keith (Trisha) Grimes, Vincent (Cametrius) Grimes, Ernest Brown, Charles, Brown, Wayne, Brown, Denford Brown, Reginald Keith Brown, Linda Brown, Maryalice Brown, Jeanette Brown, Mildred Brown, and Tommy Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved church family, and friends.
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
