Obituary

Minnie Lee McDonald, daughter of the late Hillard McDonald, Sr. and Willie Wilbon McDonald, was born in Leesburg, Georgia on March 7, 1941.

She received her formal education in the Lee County School System.

During the early years of her life, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the McAfee Grove Baptist Church of Leesburg, Georgia.  Minnie was a faithful servant who dearly loved the Lord.  In later years, she continued her walk with the Lord at the Ebenezer Christian Center and served faithfully wherever needed.

Minnie's life was filled with service to all mankind.  For numerous years she was employed as a private duty nurse.  She put a lot of effort into making others happy, always had a positive attitude, was quick to smile and laugh, and was an expert at making people feel special.

Devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin, Minnie enjoyed the basics of life and treasured the time spent with her family.  Her doors were always open and her table was always spread not only to family, but to anyone in need.  She will be most remembered for the special names that she gave children—Cookie, Eyes, Redman, Scooter, Bubba, and Pistol.  She especially enjoyed listening to music and dancing.

On December 17, 2017, Minnie quietly transitioned from this earthly life.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carrie Hall; brother-in-law, Edery Hall; and her sister-in-law, Joy Ann McDonald.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories a devoted son, Hilliard McDonald (Starr), three grandchildren, Jasmine, Camyron, and Chelsey; six siblings, Hilliard (Doris) McDonald, Jr. of Richmond Heights, FL, Joseph McDonald, Alton McDonald, and Irene (Joseph) Jackson all of Albany, GA, Christine (Charlie) Coley of Lake City, FL, and Inez Northern of Queens, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
