IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mother Katie
Mae Anderson
November 30, 1932 – October 31, 2021
Mother Katie Mae Anderson was born in Worth County, Georgia on November 30, 1932, to the late Pinkie Covin and Wheat Coleman. She was the youngest of six children.
She received her primary and secondary education in the Worth County School System. During school, she demonstrated exceptional potential while developing an eye for detail and a passion for sewing. Having a great longing and fervor to become a seamstress, she enrolled in Monroe
Vocational School where she earned a diploma and certification in Industrial Sewing and Apparel.
Raised in a strong Christian home, Mother Anderson became a soldier for Christ at a very early age. She was baptized and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of Christ at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully in numerous capacities for many years. As she continued her walk with the Lord, she united with Greater Grace Church of God In Christ. While there, she engaged faithfully in studying the whole counsel of God as she heeded her call into the ministry. In 1992 being led by the Holy Spirit, Mother Anderson gave ear to the "Macedonian call of Paul" and united with the Gethsemane Worship Center under the leadership and guidance of her son, Bishop Frederick Williams, Sr. She was a Titus II Woman—a molder, a shaper, a teacher, a counselor, and a builder of young women and mothers. Mother Williams dearly loved the Lord and fervently availed herself in service as Mother of the church, ministering to apostles, bishops, preachers, evangelists, leaders, and teachers both locally and internationally. Through the years, she inspired many to go forth in the Lord.
Her position of Church Mother was not just a title, it was her life. You could not know her without being inspired by her anointing from on High; her
unfaltering devotion to her church; and her strong faith and convictions that allowed her to be an example for her family, friends, church family, and all who encountered her.
Mother Katie was united in holy matrimony to Roosevelt Williams, Sr. who preceded her in death. Their union was blessed with seven wonderful children, Johnnie Belle, Patricia, Larry, Gloria, Roosevelt Jr., Barbara, and Frederick. As a wife, she supported her husband in all his endeavors; as a
mother, she worked tirelessly to ensure that her children were nurtured in the admonition of the Lord. Her diligence in caring for her husband and children was the personification of a Proverbs 31 Woman, "A wife of noble character whose worth was far above rubies. Her husband had full confidence in her and lacked for nothing. She did him good all the days of his life. Her children rose up and called her blessed." In later years, she was united in marriage to Silas Anderson until his demise in 1985.
Mother Anderson's professional career was marked by hard work, high expectations, and unquestionable integrity. She took great pride in her work
as she successfully progressed through the ranks at National Linen Company for more than 30 years. Upon retirement, she was lauded as a loyal,
conscientious, and dedicated employee who rendered outstanding and unparalleled service. She forged lasting friendships and touched many lives throughout her employment that will forever be remembered.
While Mother Katie never sought to make a name for herself, her extraordinary reputation ensured that she was highly respected wherever she went. She was a trusted friend and confidant and would lend a listening ear to those in need of compassion and support. We all were
privileged to witness her unrelenting servant's heart, as she "lived the life that she ministered about" every day of her life. Community and civic
minded at heart, Mother Anderson was the recipient of the Living Legend Award and two Mayoral Proclamations; and she was actively involved in
Albany Oriented Policing Community Efforts and Stop the Violence Movement. Blessed beyond measure, Mother Katie lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 88; and lived to see generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness that will forever be cherished. She will be remembered by many as an unselfish servant with a sweet spirit, and an avid gardener whose home was beautifully adorned with flowers and shrubs for all to see.
On October 31, 2021, Mother Anderson quietly answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Johnnie Belle. Although her parting leaves a void, we rejoice in Philippians 1:21, "For me to live is
Christ, and to die is gain."
Loving memories and her legacy of love and godliness will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Pastor Patricia Carter, Larry Williams, Gloria Thompson, Roosevelt Williams, Barbara (Charles) Chatmon, and Bishop Frederick (Felecia) Williams, Sr. all of Albany, GA; 20 grandchildren, 45
great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; special nieces, Annie Bell Nickels of St. Petersburg, FL, and Elder Bonnie King and Pastor Deborah Pope of Albany, GA; a myriad of nephews, nieces, and cousins; five god-daughters, Pastor Willie Mae Barnes, Evangelist Berneé Williams,
Leading Lady Angela Outlaw, Lashondra Thomas, and Julie Grace; and a host of other relatives, church family, and friends.
