Obituary

Myra Lillian Monroe Hosely, beloved daughter of the late Alfred and Myra Monroe, was born in Bronx, New York on December 25, 1943.

She received her formal education in the Bronx School District and   actively participated in numerous school organizations, events, and activities.   As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Myra married at a young age and afterwards, journeyed to Georgia to begin a new chapter in her life.  She was a meticulous homemaker with a deep sense of family loyalty, ties, and responsibilities.  She was blessed not only with children, but grandchildren and great grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life.  They shared many  happy and precious moments together and truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

Oftentimes during her life, Lillian and Big Red as she was affectionately called,  talked about her childhood and humble beginnings; growing up in New York; and her fishing days at a pond that netted a huge "mess of fish."   She was a strong, outspoken  woman with a heart of gold and a pleasure to be around.  Her home was the gathering spot for family, friends, and neighborhood children  who all loved her dearly.  One of the joys of her life was cooking and her table was always spread not only to family, but to children, neighbors, and anyone in need.  She was known throughout the community for her delicious soulful dishes.  Big Red's friendliness and kindness to all people and her devotion and love for her family, friends, and community are lasting tributes to the beauty of heart and soul.   In her free time, she enjoyed ceramics and relaxing by the water with her fishing pole in hand.  She will deeply be missed by all who had the privilege to have known her.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Lillian answered the Master's call to eternal rest.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Omar Hosely, Sr. and Audrey Young; two grandsons, Malik Jordan and Omar Hosely, Jr. and five siblings.

Myra's love and fond memories will forever be cherished by her loving children, Ayshea Brand of Atlanta, GA, and Cadijah Brown, Myra Cheirs, Alfred (Felicia) Hosely, and Laila Jackson all of Albany, GA; three siblings, Audrey Monroe and Herman Monroe of New York, and Gail Humphery of Atlanta, GA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

" I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."

II Timothy 4:7-8
