Nathan Barnes, Jr. was born in Arlington, Georgia on August 29, 1941. He was the beloved son of the late Nathan Barnes, Sr. and Juliane Blackshear Barnes. He received his formal education in the Calhoun County School System where he was actively involved in numerous organizations, a c t i v i t i e s , a n d s p o r t i n g e v e n t s . I n 1 9 6 0 , h e r e l o c a t e d t o A l b a n y , Georgia where he remained until his demise.

Nathan was united in marriage to Sadie Swain in 1962. Their union was blessed with seven loving children- Brenda , Tricia , Arlene, Mark, Brandon, William, and Fredrick. Family meant the world to Nathan and they spent many happy years together.

Loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, caring brother and uncle , cherished cousin and friend, Nathan embraced every opportunity to experience life with open arms. He was a delightful man with a big heart, selfless with his love, and a joy to be around. His love for family and friends knew no boundaries and he touched their lives in a very special way. He will long be remembered for his unconditional love.

On May 10, 2020, surrounded and supported by loving family and caregivers, Nathan peacefully transitioned from this earthly life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Barnes.

Fond memories will forever be cherished by devoted wife, Sadie Swain Barnes; his children, Brenda Barnes, Tricia Barnes, Arlene Miller , Brandon Foster , William Barnes , and Fredrick Glover Barnes; fifteen grandchildren, Cornelius Barnes (Maurice), Brenda Barnes (Doola), Starkeisha Barnes (Star), Stephanie Barnes - Moran (Step), Terrace Moran (Tee), William Barnes, Jr. (Junior), D'netra Barnes (Big Dee), Shaniqua Barnes (Nek), Mark Barnes, Jr. (MJ), Lyvada Daniels (Vada), Zackery Daniels (Zack), Freddie Osgood, Gail Osgood, Patrick Daniels (Snappa), and Pauline Favors; forty two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
