Ned Harris was born in Leary, Georgia on September 20, 1937, to the late Missy and Rufus Harris.
He was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County and actively participated in various school events and activities.
Ned was raised in a loving home and was taught to love the Lord very early in life. He attended Saints of God House of Worship and remained humble and prayerful throughout life's journey.
Over the years, Ned took pride in the services that he provided to the grocery shoppers as he labored untiringly at Winn-Dixie. He was an inspiring example of a worker who was totally committed to his profession as he rendered innumerable years of loyal and unwavering service.
In 1968, Ned married his long-time love, Carolyn. Side-by-side, they forged an inseparable bond that was filled with love, trust, and respect for one another. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished his family, showered them with unconditional love, and supported them in all their endeavors.
Often described as a hardworking, generous, and kind man, Ned had a servant's heart and always stood ready to be of service. His warm smile, encouraging words, and keen sense of humor touched the lives and hearts of many people. He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends as he craftily engaged them in hours of thought-provoking conversation. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him dearly.
On April 15, 2023, Ned finished his race here on earth and transitioned to his eternal home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Harris; his son, Willie James Harris; stepson, Ricky Bradley; and three siblings, Sarah Anderson, Vera Harris, and Rufus Harris.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his children, Marlene Joann Harris, Ned (Cynthia) Harris, Jr., and Nathaniel (Carolyn Ann) Harris; his stepson, Melvin Bradley; grandchildren, Derrick Harris, Ned Harris III, Canisha Harris, Heather (Emmanuel) Eyeson, Octavia Brown, Eric James, Charity Harris, NJ Harris, and Nash Harris; sisters, Marie Barrett and Eunice Washington; two devoted nieces, Jacqueline Gilyard and Patricia Hills; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
