IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ola M.
Bell
November 16, 1932 – November 6, 2021
Ola Mae Hodge Bell, beloved daughter of Lucille and Albert Hodge, was born in Ocilla, Georgia on November 16, 1932. She was the sixth of seven children.
Growing up in Ocilla, she received her elementary and secondary education in the Irwin County School System. Throughout school, she had a great passion for learning and continued her quest for knowledge at Albany State College.
From a very early age, she was nurtured in the Word of God at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Ocilla. Over the years, she immersed herself faithfully in Christian stewardship and service. In 1968, she united with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member and rendered unparalleled service as a member of the Senior Choir. "Ms. Ola and Mother Bell" as she was endearingly called, was a prayer warrior who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord. She never ceased to give God glory for the blessings in her life and stayed on the battlefield until her sunset.
She was united in holy matrimony to Raymond Bell who preceded her in death. Their union was blessed with six children who were taught early to love God and to love each other. As a wife and mother, she looked well to the ways of her household and was unwavering in her dedication to foster a home filled with love, joy, and strong values. Family, friends, and church were paramount in her life. Ms. Ola understood the importance of "togetherness" and she eagerly welcomed family and friends into her heart and home .
Blessed beyond measure, Mother Bell lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 88; and lived to see generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness. She had a servant's heart and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others. Ms. Ola will be remembered by many as an unselfish servant with a sweet, sweet spirit.
On November 6, 2021, Mother Bell answered the Master's call to come home. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Rickie Hodge; and her siblings, Albert Jr., Elizabeth Boone, Pledge Hodge, Mildred Dopson, Eugene Hodge, and Willie Hodge.
Loving memories will be forever cherished by her children, Frederick (Ruth) Hodge, LuSheila Kaye Graham, Priscilla Hayes, Darrell (Geraldine) Hodge, and Doris Talley; fourteen grandchildren and innumerable great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
