Oscar Lee Newton, Jr. was born in Calhoun County, Georgia on May 10, 1953. He was the son of the late Oscar Lee and Susie Mae Newton.
At an early age, Oscar professed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus and united with the Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church in Leary, Georgia.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County. Oscar continued his education and completed the requirements to earn his Commercial Driver's License (CDL). His keen interest in "big rigs" and his educational training launched his life-long professional career as a truck driver that lasted 31 years. Oscar traveled throughout the United States ensuring that manufactured products, services, and goods were delivered to customers in a timely manner.
Oscar was a hardworking man who dearly loved his family, was very protective of his children, and was joy to be around. He will be dearly missed, and the strong bonds that he developed through his life will forever be cherished and remembered.
On June 29, 2019, Oscar transitioned to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two siblings, Willie Frank Lumpkin and Robert James Newton.
He leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by four children, Steve (Lee) Wallace and Roderick (Kaotris) Wallace of Albany, GA, Cynthia Stewart of Colorado Springs, CO, and Anntoinette Briley of Columbus, GA; three grandchildren, LaMia Anntoinette Zackery, Khalil Edward Stewart, and Ratavious Wallace; eight siblings, Bettye J. Roberts of Hampton, GA, Ronald Newton of Olathe, KS, Randy (Sharion) Newton and Maxine (Tony) Jenkins of Albany, GA, Dianne Hill of Ellenwood, GA, Kathleen (Timothy) Graham of Albany, GA, Gaynelle (Demetrius) Cain of Euclid, OH, and Norman (Michele) Newton of Albany, GA; aunts, two aunts, Tiny Carter of Albany, GA and Alice White of Dawson, GA; two sisters-in-law, Alma Lumpkin of Buckhead, GA and Betty J. Newton o Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, ne phews, cousins, and friends.
