Ossie Virginia Garner was born in Dawson, Georgia on June 2, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Marie Brown Garner and Cleo Garner Sr.
A Time To Plant And Grow
Ossie was raised in Albany, Georgia and graduated from Monroe High School, Class of 1958. She attended Monroe Area Vocational Technical School, after which she was employed at Phoebe Putney Memo-rial Hospital (Albany, Georgia) and Holy Cross Hospital (Atlanta, Georgia). After completing her clinical studies at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, she graduated from Gordon Junior College in Barnesville, Georgia For numerous years, she was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Sylvan Grove Hospital and Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Center in Jackson, Georgia. She returned home to Albany, Georgia and continued her career at the Dougherty County Jail. Over he years, she demonstrated excellence through her lifelong contribution to the field of nursing.
A Time To Love
Ossie met Arthur L. Lawson while he was attending Albany State College. They were joined in marriage and began their life together in Atlanta, Georgia. They later relocated to his hometown of Jackson Georgia. Their union was blessed with two loving children; Anthony and Joni.
A Time Of Peace
Ossie transitioned to eternal rest on February 14, 2020. Loving memories will be cherished forever by her two children, Anthony J. Lawson and Joni N. Lawson; siblings, Estella G. Hicks (George—deceased), Cleo Garner, Jr. (Carolyn), Joe Garner (Gloria), Shirley Garner Richardson, and Roderick R. Garner (Nellie) all of Albany, GA; two devoted aunts, Jeanie Brown (Tifton, GA) and Pearlie Garner (Cleveland, GA). She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
