IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ossie
Johnson
August 22, 1925 – August 9, 2021
The season of life for Ossie Mae Jones Wright Johnson began in Cobb, Georgia on August 22, 1925. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ira Jones and Ella Cummings Jones.
Having been raised in a Christian home where she was nurtured in the Word of God, Ossie accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age; was baptized; and began her journey of Christian stewardship at New Zion Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and devoted herself to unparalleled service until her health declined. "Ms. Ossie and Mother Johnson" as she was endearingly called, was a prayer warrior who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord. Her faith and trust in God guided her life and allowed her to be an example for all who encountered her.
Domestic at heart, Mother Johnson ate not the bread of idleness and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. She was a selfless, loving mother with a quiet strength, never complained, and always had a smile. Over the years, she skillfully balanced her duties as a homemaker with her employment as a nurse's assistant and domestic engineer.
Mother Johnson lived a life filled with meaning and purpose—a rich and rewarding life. She had a servant's heart and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others. She was considered by many as a wise and trusted counsel, a difference maker, and an unforgettable friend. An excellent cook with the gift of hospitality, her doors were always open for family and friends to gather for an extraordinary, mouthwatering feast. In her leisure, she enjoyed fishing, quilting, and watching Steve Harvey.
On Monday, August 9, 2021, God called his faithful servant home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Addie Bee Hightower, Beaurina Johnson, Mary Lee Clark, Johnnie Mae Denson, Willie Mae Walker, Eddie Lee James William Jones, and Robert Jones, Jr.; and two sisters-in-law, Hattie and Emma Jones.
Cherished memories will forever remain with her daughter, Mary Ann Jones of Albany, GA; granddaughters, Taneka Naon Grover of Albany, GA and Taneka Shaon Grover of Fairburn, GA; six great grandchildren, Michael, Quanterious, Brandon, Bryce, Kamari, and MaKaylyn; great-great grandchild, Camille; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
