Obituary

James Edward Couch Jr. was born May 11, 1937, in Albany, Ga to the late

Maggie Davis and James E. Couch, Sr. The oldest of three siblings, James exercised his authority and made it known he was the big brother.


His early years were spent in Arlington, Ga where he attended elementary school. Later the family relocated to Bainbridge, Ga where he attended high school. After high school, James enlisted in the United States Air Force on May 11, 1955, his 18th  birthday.


After being discharged from service in the USAF, he returned home to Bainbridge, Ga. Shortly after moving home, James decided to make Florida his new home. Relocating to Deerfield Beach, Fl. And later back to Albany, Ga.


James was an entrepreneur at heart with a creative mind. Trying his hand at varies endeavors. One of his greatest achievements was accepting his call into ministry, where he was ordained a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ.


James served as a Pastoral Advisor at New Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Inc.
In 1978, James was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, the late Eleanor Idell Couch. They were inseparable until the Lord called her home on September 26, 2024.


On Saturday March 29, 2025, The Lord in His Iinfnite wisdom and sovereignty called his faithful servant home. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two children, Michael and Jammie Crouch, granddaughters; Shekela Crouch, Tashayla Whitehurst, and brother Benny Branch.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his beloved family. His loving and devoted children, Linda Crouch of Pompano Beach, Fl, Gertrude Crouch of LaBelle, Fl. Lonnie (Antoinette) Crouch of Deerfield Beach, Fl, Margie (Otis) Johnson, and Shoshannah (Shon) Houston of Albany, Ga. Loving sister Ruth Thompson of Deerfield Beach, Fl. Sister-in-laws, Barbara Branch of Deerfield
Beach, Fl. Juanita Yarn of Tallahassee, Fl. Brother-in-law, Earl Ford of Owing
Mills, MD. 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and a host nephews,
nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends.
